Astro was founded in Baldichieri d’Asti.

1992
In 1992, the company started manufacturing plastic inserts and parts for aluminium closures for the beverage sector, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The collaboration with Alluminio Mauceri, later Mauceri Capsule, a prestigious company from Borghetto Lodigiano active in the market since 1924, dates back to that period.

2004
As part of a vertical integration strategy, Astro acquired Mauceri Capsule in 2004, whose facilities were moved to Baldichieri in the new plant built specifically for the production of capsules and closures.

2018
Major modernisation of machinery and production sites to improve both the company’s efficiency and environmental sustainability. Using advanced ERP software and the Wi-Fi connection of all processing lines, the plants work in close integration in pure ‘Industry 4.0’ optics. Continuous emission control systems are being introduced on the production lines and innovative painting and drying techniques are being successfully tested, which significantly reduce dispersion into the environment.

2024
The new fully automated and self-sufficient warehouse for finished products comes into operation in terms of energy consumption, with state-of-the-art solutions in terms of environmental impact.

Astro was founded in 1980 by Luigi Strocco, now the company’s president, who was joined over time by his son Davide Strocco, now the Managing Director.
Astro’s activity began in the field of plastic components and parts for both the industrial and food sectors, in which it became a leading national player in just a few years.
Since the 1990s the production and marketing of aluminum closures began and progressively extended to all types of beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
Sales grew steadily, dragged by the success of the wine closures line, leading to several expansions of the Baldichieri site to include more and more new production facilities.
Today Astro is a leading international company on the aluminum closures market, with a turnover of several tens of millions of euros, 75% of which is made abroad, and an annual output of approx. 2 bn closures.
In an industry now dominated by large, impersonal multinational corporations, Astro proudly continues to stand out by remaining the only family-run company, albeit on an international scale. To the cold logic of numbers, Luigi and Davide Strocco still prefer the warmth of personal relationships, the spirit of service to customers and the dedication that comes from a sense of belonging. All this combined with a lot of enthusiasm and pride in their work.

ACTIVITIES CONCENTRATED IN A SINGLE PRODUCTION SITE
R&D, sales offices, lithography, design, aluminium and plastic processing are strategically concentrated in the Baldichieri d’Asti site, which has reached a covered area of 20,000 square metres, guaranteeing the highest possible levels of efficiency, control and flexibility.
INVESTMENT AND CONTINUOUS INNOVATION TO SUPPORT THE TRANSITION FROM INDUSTRY 4.0 TO 5.0.
We have invested significant economic resources to optimize the efficiency of production processes by achieving a high level of automation and plant interconnection, according to the logic of Industry 4.0. We are already ready for the challenges of Industry 5.0: the state-of-the-art photovoltaic system installed on the roof of the new finished goods warehouse is the first step in a series of projects aimed at reducing energy consumption. Another key issue of Industry 5.0 is the focus on worker well-being: the prestigious SMETA and ECOVADIS certifications attest to the quality of the working environment at Astro and the absolute respect for the rights of those who work with us.
HIGH QUALITY, IN FUNCTIONAL AND AESTHETIC TERMS
Our goal is for our customers to see us as the manufacturer of the best closures on the market. We aim at ‘zero defect’: all our closures are checked in-line, one by one, by means of special optical devices. By immediately disposing of the possibly imperfect ones we always ensure a perfect protection of the content and a precise and efficient application on the bottling lines.
Particular care has always been devoted to the quality of printing. The company has equipped itself with the necessary facilities to use all available printing technologies and perfectly reproduce even the most sophisticated and complex graphics, thus rendering 100% of the beauty of the original graphic design.
