WE TEST NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND PROCESSES TO ACHIEVE THE ZERO IMPACT
Great efforts have been made to reduce the level of CO2 emissions and the dispersion of potentially polluting substances into the environment:
We have developed an innovative printing and drying system using special LED lamps. This method has a double advantage as environment is concerned:
75% reduction in “carbon footprint”
- Dramatic reduction in the proportion of solvents: only 5% compared to 50% in traditional inks and methods, with a 95% reduction in the use of solvents in inks.
- Astro has also developed the use of water-based inks for off-set printing of capsules with a minimum height of 44 mm, lowering the proportion of solvents from 50% (normally used for this type of printing) to 10%.

WE INVEST IN SELF-GENERATED ENERGY TO BE INCREASINGLY SELF-SUFFICIENT
- The new finished products warehouse is equipped with a 500 kWh photovoltaic system capable not only of completely satisfying the facility’s energy needs but also of powering the production facilities, generating 10% of the energy required, with a CO2 reduction of 300 tonnes per year (25 tonnes per month).
- Another 500 kWh photovoltaic system has recently been installed on the roof of the aluminium processing plant, while on the roof of the plastics processing unit a further 400 kWh photovoltaic system brings the total self-produced energy to 1,400 kWh, covering 30% of the company’s energy needs and generating a CO2 abatement of 900 tonnes per year.

The aluminium we use for our closures comes from European suppliers and is 100% produced in Europe. It contains 30% recycled aluminium and is 100% recyclable.
